Breaching of the dams and outflow of the contaminated lead wastes could lead to pollution of the environment and to discharge of the whole mass of tailings into the Kichi-Kemin river and from it to the Chu river, the basin of which is currently inhabited by several million nationals of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
